FAQ

How can Physio Max help me?

Is your pain affecting your golf swing? Afraid to fall down the stairs because of knee weakness? Your back pain won’t let you carry grocery bags? Your shoulder pain is affecting your ability to work?

You bring us your problem and we’ll help you reach your goal. Obviously, we want to help you get rid of pain, but most importantly is to be able to enjoy the best that life has to offer.

We’ll conduct a thorough assessment on your first visit to figure out where the problem is coming from. Your plan of care will take in consideration the injury and your end goal. We will accompany you through what we call the “journey”. We’ll treat the injury using various modalities and hands-on care, prescribe specific exercises to help you reach your goal, and help you avoid pitfalls along the way.

Do you take my insurance?

Treatment reimbursement is covered by most extended health care plans (Blue Cross, SunLife, Johnson Insurance, Great West, etc). You would need to contact your insurance representative to find out the type of service and amount covered by your private insurance plan.

Do I need a prescription from my doctor to see you?

No. Clients have direct access to physiotherapy services in private clinics since the 1990’s in the province of New Brunswick. However, some private insurances still require a medical prescription for service reimbursement. We suggest you contact your insurance company for information regarding their reimbursement policy.

How long after an injury should I wait before I start treatments?

Usually, the sooner you seek treatments after an injury, the quicker you’ll recover.

You may need to rest for a few days after an incident to allow the pain to settle down a bit, and ideally start treatments 5-7 days after the incident.

We can still help you months after an injury, but at that point, we will also have to address other physical issues that often appear over time after the incident, which may take longer to treat.

How many treatments will I need?

The number of treatments is variable and dependant on the nature of the injury, previous injuries, other health issues and the end goal you set for yourself.

You will have the opportunity to discuss the plan of care, frequency of visits and duration of treatments with your physiotherapist during your first visit.

What do I need to bring with me?

Reading glasses- You will need your reading glasses to complete forms and review the home exercise program with your physiotherapist.

Comfortable clothing- To expose the injured area. You should think of bringing clothing that will enable the therapist to see and touch the injured area. For example, bring gym shorts (elastic material) for a leg injury or ladies may want to wear a tank top for shoulder problems. We have shorts or hospital gown at your disposal at the clinic if you don't have the appropriate clothing.

Clean footwear- Don't forget to bring clean indoor shoes or wear our slippers during treatments. We want to keep our floors clean so no one will slip and fall. Safety first!

Work/personal schedule- If further treatments are required after your first visit, we will schedule your next appointment(s). You will need your work and personal schedules with you at that time to avoid booking appointments at the same time.

How long is each appointment?

The first appointment is the initial assessment and can take up to an hour to complete. We always advise clients to show up 10-15 minutes earlier to complete intake forms before we start the assessment.

The following sessions (treatments) vary in length and depend on the nature of the injury and what type of treatment is required. On average, treatments can run 30-60 minutes each.
